Disabling Auto-Pay

Disabling Auto-Pay

Turning Auto-Pay off means you review and pay each invoice yourself. This guide shows you how to stop recurring billing from the Payment methods tab, what stays saved afterwards, what to watch so an invoice is not missed, and how to switch cards without leaving Auto-Pay off.

What happens when you turn Auto-Pay off

With Auto-Pay off, nothing is charged automatically. You pay each invoice yourself, which means you get to review the charges on it first — but it also means remembering to pay before the due date.

When turning it off makes sense

  • You are switching to a different card or bank account.
  • You would rather check each invoice before paying it.
  • You are working through a billing question and want charges paused.
  • You are closing the account.

Step-by-step

  1. Log in to your Zonitel Office Portal.
  2. In the left sidebar, expand Settings and click Billing.
  3. Open the Payment methods tab.
  4. Find the method currently set for recurring billing and click its Actions button.
  5. Select Stop Recurrent Billing.

The card stays on file so you can still use it to pay manually. Only the automatic charging stops.

Important: once Auto-Pay is off, paying on time is up to you. An invoice left unpaid past its due date can incur a late fee, so set yourself a reminder for each billing cycle.

After you turn it off

  • Watch your Balance Due and Outstanding Invoices on the billing screen.
  • Pay each invoice from the Invoices tab before its due date.
  • If you have more than one location, billing is handled per location, so repeat this in each one where Auto-Pay is on.

Switching to a different payment method

If the reason is a new card rather than manual payment, you do not need to leave Auto-Pay off. Add the new method, set it for recurring billing, and stop recurring billing on the old one. See How to Set Up and Manage Auto-Pay.

FAQ

Q: Does this delete my card?
A: No. The method stays saved and can still be used to pay manually.

Q: Can I turn it back on later?
A: Yes. Use Actions on the method and select Use for Recurring Billing again.

Q: What about an invoice that is already due?
A: Anything outstanding still needs paying, and a late fee can apply if it passes its due date. Turning off Auto-Pay does not clear a balance.

Q: I have several locations. Does turning it off in one affect the others?
A: No. Each location keeps its own billing settings.
