How to Set Up and Manage Auto-Pay
Auto-Pay settles your invoice each billing cycle from a payment method you choose. This guide shows you how to turn it on from a saved card, a new card or a bank account, how to confirm it is active, and what to keep an eye on so it does not quietly stop working.
What Auto-Pay does
Auto-Pay charges a payment method you choose each billing cycle, so your invoice is settled without you doing anything. It is the simplest way to keep service running without watching for due dates.
- No invoice gets missed because someone was away or busy.
- No risk of a late fee, or of service being suspended over a late payment.
- A confirmation is emailed to you each cycle, so you still see every charge.
Before you start
- An active Zonitel account and your login details.
- A credit or debit card, or a bank account for ACH.
Open your billing screen
- Log in to your Zonitel Office Portal.
- In the left sidebar, expand Settings and click Billing.
The screen shows your Balance Due and Outstanding Invoices, with tabs for Invoices, Payments made and Payment methods.
Turn on Auto-Pay with a card you already saved
- Open the Payment methods tab.
- Find the card you want to use and click its Actions button.
- Select Use for Recurring Billing.
You can keep several cards on file, but only the one you mark is used for recurring billing.
Turn on Auto-Pay with a new card
- Open the Payment methods tab and click Add payment method.
- Enter the cardholder's first and last name, the card number, expiration, CVV and ZIP code.
- Tick Use always, which sets the card to be used automatically for all your future payments.
- Click Add method.
Turn on Auto-Pay with a bank account (ACH)
- When paying, choose the option to use a bank account (ACH).
- Enter your account details.
- Tick the option to save the method and use it automatically for future payments.
- Complete the payment.
ACH suits businesses that would rather not run monthly charges through a card, and it avoids interruptions when a card expires or is reissued.
Check that it is active
- Open Payment methods and confirm the method you chose is marked for recurring billing.
- After the next cycle, check the Payments made tab to see the charge went through.
- Watch for the confirmation email.
Keeping it working
- Update the card before it expires. An expired card is the usual reason Auto-Pay stops.
- If you have more than one location, billing is handled per location, so set Auto-Pay up in each one.
- Keep an eye on the confirmation emails rather than assuming a charge succeeded.
