How to Schedule a Message from Conversations

How to Schedule a Message from Conversations

Choose a future time, queue the message with Send, and edit or cancel a pending message from its options.

Schedule send lets you prepare a message in an individual conversation for a future time. A scheduled message has not yet been delivered. Choose a time appropriate for the recipient and the permission they gave you.

Prepare and schedule

  1. Open Conversations → Inbox and select the correct customer conversation.
  2. Confirm the contact, channel and business number displayed above the composer.
  3. Write the message or insert a template. Review the final text and any attachment.
  1. Click Schedule send, using the clock button or the + menu.
  2. In Schedule message, open the date/time control and choose a future date and time.
  3. Read the time-zone notice. The scheduling window uses the time zone set in your profile; do not assume it automatically matches the recipient's location.
  4. Review the selected date, time and message once more, then click Schedule.

  1. The Scheduling bar now appears above the composer. Confirm its future date and time, then click Send (or press Enter as the bar instructs) to queue the message.
  2. Check that the message appears in the thread with Scheduled for and the intended date/time. If it does not, review the screen before creating another copy.

Schedule selects the time; Send queues the message. Choosing a date alone does not create the pending message.

Check what happens next

Before the selected time, the message is scheduled, not delivered. After that time, review its result in the conversation and available reports. If delivery is missing or unconfirmed, follow SMS/MMS delivery troubleshooting instead of immediately resending.

Edit a pending message

  1. Open Message options on the message marked Scheduled for and select Edit message & schedule.
  2. Update the text in the composer. In Editing scheduled message, click the date/time button to change the schedule.
  3. Click Save, wait for the update, and check the message’s final text and scheduled time. Cancel editing abandons the edit; it does not cancel the pending send.

Cancel a pending message

  1. Before its send time, open that pending message’s Message options → Delete.
  2. Confirm Delete in the Delete message dialog.
  3. Check that the pending item disappears. If it has already been sent, deleting history does not recall it from the recipient.
Edit or delete a pending scheduled message using its own message options.

Drafts, group campaigns and Calendar

Cancel scheduling — send as a normal message only exits scheduling mode in the composer. Check the mode before pressing Send: without a future schedule, the message is sent normally. It does not cancel a message already queued.

  • Discard draft clears content still in the composer. Do not use it as proof that an already scheduled message was canceled.
  • For several recipients, use the Schedule workflow in Group Messages and review its campaign report.
  • For scheduling alongside events and appointments, see Calendar: events, appointments and scheduled SMS.

A future send still needs a valid recipient, an enabled number, applicable approval and current consent. If someone opts out before the send time, review and stop the affected pending send through the supported process.
