Managing Payment Methods
Your saved cards and bank accounts live on the Payment methods tab of the billing screen. This guide shows you how to add a card, use a bank account through ACH, manage a saved method from its Actions button, replace an expiring card safely, and avoid the usual causes of a declined payment.
Where your payment methods live
Your saved cards and bank accounts are kept on the billing screen, and they are used both for paying invoices and for recurring billing.
- Log in to your Zonitel Office Portal.
- In the left sidebar, expand Settings and click Billing.
- Open the Payment methods tab.
You can keep more than one method on file, which is worth doing so a single expired card cannot hold up a payment.
What you can use
- Credit or debit card — added directly from the Payment methods tab.
- Bank account (ACH) — chosen during the payment process. Useful for larger monthly bills and unaffected by card expiry or reissue.
Add a card
- On the Payment methods tab, click Add payment method.
- Enter the cardholder's First Name and Last Name exactly as they appear on the card.
- Enter the Card Number, Expiration and CVV.
- Enter the ZIP Code for the card's billing address.
- (Optional) Tick Use always to have this card used automatically for future payments.
- Click Add method.
The card then appears in your list, ready to pay an invoice.
Add a bank account (ACH)
- Start paying an invoice and choose the bank account option.
- Enter your account details.
- Choose whether to save it for future payments.
- Complete the payment.
Managing a saved method
Each saved method has an Actions button, which is where you set it for recurring billing, stop recurring billing on it, or remove it.
- To make a method the one Auto-Pay uses, select Use for Recurring Billing.
- To stop it being charged automatically, select Stop Recurrent Billing.
Full details are in How to Set Up and Manage Auto-Pay.
Replacing a card
When a card is expiring or has been reissued, add the new one first, set it for recurring billing, and only then remove the old one. Doing it in that order means Auto-Pay is never left without a method.
Keeping payments from failing
- Update the card before its expiry date rather than after a payment fails.
- Check the name and ZIP match the card's billing address. A mismatch is a common reason a card is declined.
- Keep a second method on file as a backup.
- If you have more than one location, payment methods are held per location, so add them in each one.
FAQ
Q: How many methods can I save?
A: More than one. Only the method marked for recurring billing is charged automatically.
Q: Is my card information safe?
A: Card details are handled by the payment processor. Zonitel staff never see your full card number.
Q: Can I remove the card Auto-Pay uses?
A: Add and set another method for recurring billing first, so automatic payments do not stop.
Q: My payment was declined. What now?
A: Check the expiry date, the ZIP and the available balance, then try again. If it keeps failing, your bank is the fastest place to ask.
