Your Business Details and Time Zone
Business Settings holds the details shown on your invoices and faxes, plus your billing contact and time zone. This guide explains each field, why the time zone quietly affects business hours and every timestamp you see, and when these settings are worth reviewing.
What Business Settings holds
These are your business details and billing contact. They are shown on invoices, on faxes and around your account, so getting them right matters beyond the settings screen itself.
Open it from the left sidebar: expand Settings and click Business Settings.
Business information
- Business name — as it should appear on documents.
- Business address, City, State and ZIP code.
- Time zone.
Why the time zone matters most
Of everything on this screen, the time zone has the widest reach. It decides:
- When your business hours actually start and end, and therefore when calls route to voicemail or an after-hours destination.
- The timestamps on your call history, message records and reports.
- The times shown on your analytics screens.
If your call records look shifted by a few hours, or business hours seem to apply at the wrong time, check this setting before anything else. It is the usual cause.
Billing contact
Below your business information you set the contact for the account: First name, Last name, Business phone and Contact email.
This is where account and billing correspondence goes, so it should be someone who reads it. A contact email pointing at a former employee is a quiet way to miss an invoice.
Where these details show up
- Invoices — your business name and address.
- Faxes — the details appear on documents you send.
- Your account — throughout the portal.
Because faxes carry these details, a business that has moved should update this before sending anything that matters.
Worth reviewing when
- You move premises or change your trading name.
- The person handling billing changes.
- You open a location in another time zone — settings are per location, so each one carries its own. See Switching Between Locations in Your Portal.
- Timestamps or business hours look wrong.
FAQ
Q: Does changing the time zone alter past records?
A: It changes how times are displayed. If figures look shifted after a change, that is why.
Q: Is the billing contact the same as a portal user?
A: No. Portal access is managed separately under Users.
Q: Can I change the business name myself?
A: Yes, here. Contact us if your legal entity changed, since that can affect other records.
Q: Do several locations share these settings?
A: No. Each location has its own.
