Switching Between Locations in Your Portal

Switching Between Locations in Your Portal

Learn to find your current location, switch to another location and confirm the change. Includes real portal screenshots, a short animated walkthrough and tips for finding location-specific settings.

What locations are

If your business has more than one office, branch or company set up with Zonitel, each one is a separate location in your portal. Your phone numbers, extensions, call flows and message credits all belong to a location rather than to your login.

That means the portal shows you one location at a time. The phone numbers you can configure, the extensions in your list, the call and message history, and the message credits you can spend all belong to the location currently selected.

See which location you are in

Look at the top of the page, beside the page title, for the location selector. The button shows the name of the location you are working in right now.

It is worth glancing at before you change anything, because every screen in the portal follows it.

Switch to another location

Save any work in progress before switching locations.

  1. Click the location button at the top of the page.
  2. A list of the locations you have access to opens, with CURRENT marked next to the one you are in.
  3. Click the location you want.
  4. Wait for the page to load, then confirm that the location button shows the new name before making changes.

The portal reloads showing that location's information. You stay logged in — only the data you are looking at changes.

After switching, the location button shows Core Test

Why numbers or settings seem to be missing

The most common surprise in a multi-location account is a setting that appears to have vanished: a phone number you cannot find, an extension that is not in the list, a call flow you built last week.

One possible reason is that a different location is selected. Check the location button first, switch to the intended location, and look again. If the item is still missing, contact support to check the setup and your access.

The same applies in reverse when you are making changes. Before editing a call flow or adding an extension, confirm you are in the right location, or the change lands somewhere you did not intend.

What is kept separate

These are the parts of the portal that belong to one location:

  • Phone numbers and everything configured on them, including call flows, business hours and text message settings.
  • Extensions and their settings.
  • Call and message history, along with the reports built from it.
  • Group message credits, which are topped up per location. See Message Credits for Group Messages.

Working across several locations

  • Set up one location completely before moving to the next, rather than switching back and forth mid-task.
  • When you repeat a setup in another location, remember that greetings, recordings and templates do not carry over. They have to be added again.
  • If a colleague reports a problem, ask which location they were in before you go looking for it.

FAQ

Q: Do I need a separate login for each location?
A: No. One login gives you the locations you have access to, and you switch between them from the button at the top.

Q: I only see one location. Is something wrong?
A: Not necessarily. Your business may have only one location, or your user may have access to only one. Contact support if you expected to see more.

Q: A colleague can see a location I cannot.
A: Access is granted per user. Contact us if you need another location added to your account.

Q: Does switching log me out?
A: No. You stay signed in and the page reloads with the other location's information.
