Sync a Calendar with Google Calendar
Connect Google Calendar from the Connections tab so imported events are considered when customers book. This guide covers connecting each calendar, reading its sync status, using Sync All Calendars and deciding whether imported events should be treated as appointments.
What syncing gives you
Connecting Google Calendar imports your Google events into Zonitel, so the availability your customers see accounts for everything already in your day — not just what was booked through Zonitel.
Without it, a booking page can offer a slot you are already committed to.
Connect a calendar
Google is connected per calendar, not once for the whole account.
- In the left sidebar, expand Settings and click Calendars Config.
- Open Settings on the calendar you want to sync.
- Go to the Connections tab. This tab can also show other calendar connections, such as GoHighLevel, so use the Google Calendar Sync section.
- Click Connect Google Calendar.
- You are redirected to Google to grant calendar read access. Sign in with the account holding the calendar and approve.
The Sync column on the Calendars Config list shows whether each calendar is connected.
If you have several calendars connected, Sync All Calendars on that screen refreshes them together.
Treating Google events as appointments
On the calendar's General tab there is a setting worth understanding:
Treat Google-synced events as appointments. When it is on, events imported from Google are classified as appointments — except holidays and birthdays — so your automations can act on them. It is off by default.
- Leave it off if your Google calendar holds personal or internal items. Your reminders should not text people about your dentist appointment.
- Turn it on if the calendar is genuinely your client diary and you want appointment automations to recognize events imported from Google. SMS delivery still depends on the notification template or automation you configure.
Which calendar to connect
- Connect the calendar that reflects when you are actually unavailable, or the sync will not protect your availability.
- If personal and work items share one Google calendar, consider separating them before switching the appointments setting on.
- Each Zonitel calendar syncs independently, so different staff or services can connect different Google accounts.

Q: Can I connect once for every calendar?
A: No. It is per calendar. Use Sync All Calendars to refresh the connected ones together.
Q: What access does Google grant?
A: Calendar read access, so events can be imported.
Q: Do I need Google for booking pages?
A: No. They work with or without it. See Booking Pages.
Q: Will my Google events trigger SMS reminders?
A: Turning on Treat Google-synced events as appointments makes them available to appointment automations. An SMS is sent only when a configured notification template or automation applies.
