Manage contact addresses and custom fields

Manage contact addresses and custom fields

Add structured addresses, choose an address type and review extra fields captured during imports.

The contact profile keeps address information and additional imported values in separate tabs. Use Address for structured addresses and Custom Fields to review extra columns captured during an import.

Open the correct contact

In Office, confirm the selected business/location, open Contacts and search for the person. Choose Edit → Address. You can also use the row's More → Address shortcut. Check the phone number before adding information to someone with a similar name.

Add an address

  1. Click New address.
  2. Choose a Type when appropriate: Home, Work or Other. Use Label to provide a meaningful name, such as Main office.
  3. Enter Street, the required address field. Use Extended for an apartment, suite or other secondary address detail.
  4. Select Country and Region/State, then choose City when available. The City selector can remain disabled until a state is selected.
  5. Complete Postal Code and any relevant Description. Latitude and Longitude are available if you have accurate coordinates; do not guess them.
  6. Select Primary address if that is the intended designation for this entry.
  7. Click Add address and confirm the address appears with the expected details. Use Cancel to discard the unsaved address form.

Review addresses after saving

Check the street, apartment or suite, locality and postal code together. If you add multiple addresses, use clear types and labels and verify which saved entry is shown as primary. The contact-information Save button and the Add address button belong to different forms; use Add address to submit the new address.

If a country, state or city is missing from a selector, review the preceding selection first. Do not substitute an incorrect locality just to finish the form. Share the missing option with support if it prevents entering the correct address.

Review custom fields from an import

  1. Open the contact's Custom Fields tab.
  2. Review the field names and values shown for that record.
  3. If the panel says No custom fields, note its explanation: extra columns captured during an import appear here.
  4. Compare the original import's headings and row with the saved contact if a value is unexpected.

Use the current import template and the available column mapping when preparing data. The empty Custom Fields panel does not provide a manual Add field form. Do not assume that changing the main name or email fields creates a new custom field, or that importing the same number again will update it as intended.

If information is missing

Check that the import completed, that the source row actually contained the value, and that you opened the correct contact. Review extra columns separately from standard name, phone, email and address fields. Before attempting a repeat import to correct data, use the import troubleshooting guide and confirm the intended update behavior.
