What You Need to Port Your Phone Number to Zonitel
Prepare account details, a recent bill and authorization, check the mobile transfer PIN, and coordinate a complete or partial number transfer.
Use this checklist to prepare a US phone-number transfer to Zonitel. First, ask our team to confirm that the number can be ported. Requirements vary by provider, account type and country.
Keep your current service active. Do not cancel the line while the transfer is pending.
1. Gather your account details and documents
| What to prepare | What to check |
|---|---|
| Numbers and current provider | List every number to transfer, including fax lines, and the provider serving each one. |
| Account holder and authorized contact | Use the exact personal or business name on the account. Identify who may authorize the move and how we can reach them. |
| Account number | Get the actual account number from the provider. Do not assume it is your phone number. |
| Address and ZIP code | For landline/VoIP lines, use the service address on record, including suite and ZIP. For wireless lines, confirm the address and ZIP the carrier uses for port validation. |
| Billing Telephone Number (BTN/ATN) | Provide it if applicable. This is the number identifying the telephone account; it may differ from the number being transferred. |
| Recent bill | Have a clear, complete copy showing the provider and relevant account details. If no bill is available, ask our team what supporting document is acceptable. |
| Letter of Authorization (LOA) | Complete the authorization supplied for your request. The authorized account holder or representative must sign and date it, with the numbers and account details correctly listed. |
| Customer Service Record (CSR), if available | This provider record can help confirm service details. A bill may show a different address. If information is missing or disputed, our team will coordinate how to obtain or verify it. |
2. For a mobile number, confirm the porting PIN
Ask your current carrier for the Number Transfer PIN, Port-Out PIN or porting passcode required for your account.
- Use the correct code. A transfer PIN may be different from the normal account PIN. Prepaid, business and reseller accounts can follow different rules; confirm which code applies.
- Check validity and scope. Generate a temporary PIN close to submission. Confirm its expiration and which lines it covers. If you replace it, notify Zonitel promptly because the previous PIN may become invalid.
- Check transfer protection. The authorized account owner should resolve any Number Lock, Port Out Protection or porting freeze through the current carrier’s official process before submission.
Share the required porting code only through the channel arranged with Zonitel for your request. It is not your online login password, phone-unlock code or SIM PIN/PUK. A landline or VoIP provider may also require a porting passcode.
3. Confirm what moves and coordinate the date
- All numbers or only some? Identify the numbers that must stay. If the main billing number moves, ask the current provider whether a replacement BTN is needed for the remaining services.
- Related services: tell us about internet/DSL, fax or other services tied to the number. Coordinate their continuity before the move.
- Pending changes: report other transfer requests, disconnections or account changes. Avoid duplicate port requests and coordinate updates with our team.
- Activation: provide your preferred date and an available contact. A requested date is not a confirmed date; wait for Zonitel’s confirmation and test calls, messaging and fax as applicable after activation.
Toll-free or international number? Tell us at the start. Toll-free transfers can require a specific LOA; international documentation differs. The mobile PIN checklist does not apply to every number type.
If the request is rejected
Use the stated reason to verify the name, address, ZIP, account number, BTN or PIN with your current provider. Send the corrected information to Zonitel so the request can be updated. Repeating the same mismatched details will not resolve the rejection.
Resolve a rejected port request
Prepare for activation
Confirm the activation window and time zone with Zonitel, the available contact and the routing prepared for each number. After the move, test voice, messaging and fax separately as applicable. Report a partial failure with source, destination and exact time; a successful voice call does not confirm every service.
