Check Your Emergency 911 Address
Find Emergency 911 in Phone Numbers, review the registered location and learn what to do when an address is missing, incorrect or needs to change.
Use Settings → Phone Numbers → Settings → Emergency 911 to check the emergency-address information shown for a business number. Review it whenever your team moves or starts using phones at another physical location.
Open the address for the correct number
- Open Settings → Phone Numbers in Zonitel Office.
- Confirm the location selected at the top of the portal. Find the number you need, using the search and additional list pages when necessary.
- Look for the 911 indicator. The list uses this indicator to identify a number with a registered emergency address.
- Click Settings on that number's row.
- Under Sections, select Emergency 911.
- Review the address or the status message displayed. Confirm that you opened the intended number before requesting a correction.
You can open Emergency 911 even when the list does not show a 911 indicator. Read the message inside the section to understand what Office can currently confirm.
Understand what the screen tells you
- Emergency address registered for this number: an emergency address is displayed. Review the complete physical location, including any suite, floor or unit information shown. Ask your administrator to confirm that it is appropriate for the phones using that emergency calling number.
- No emergency address confirmed for this number: the last check with the emergency provider did not confirm an address. This message does not, by itself, establish that no address exists. Contact Zonitel Support to verify or arrange the configuration.
- The address is outdated or incorrect: request a correction before relying on that address for the affected location.
The section describes the emergency address associated with a call presenting that number. If several extensions, offices or remote workers share numbers, ask your phone-system administrator to confirm which number each phone presents on emergency calls. A number shown on an ordinary outgoing call is not a substitute for checking the emergency configuration.
The address appears under EMERGENCY SERVICES ARE SENT TO. The page may also show Caller name. Review the address itself, not just the registered-status indicator.
Request an address correction
Address editing in Office is not available yet. For now, contact Zonitel Support if you need to add, correct or change the emergency address. Changing an address elsewhere in your business profile should not be treated as confirmation that the emergency record has changed.
Provide the affected business number, the location, the correct physical address and any suite, floor or unit detail needed to identify it. Include the message shown in Emergency 911. Ask Support to confirm when the emergency record has been updated; then reopen the section and review it again. A request being received is not the same as an update being completed.
Moving a phone or working remotely
VoIP emergency-location information must stay aligned with where the phone is used. Contact your administrator or Support before using a phone at a different site, and ask how emergency calling is handled for remote staff. Do not assume that signing in from another location automatically changes the registered address. 911.gov explains VoIP location registration.
Verify safely
- A displayed address is a configuration check, not proof of a completed emergency call.
- Do not place an unscheduled test call to 911. Coordinate any emergency-call test with Support and your local emergency communications center through its non-emergency contact. See the official guidance on test calls.
- Internet or power outages can affect internet phone service. Keep an alternative way to reach emergency services available. Read more about VoIP and 911 limitations.
