Reach a teammate with Paging / Intercom
From your Zonitel extension, dial *8{ext} to contact another extension using Paging / Intercom. Use it for a brief internal announcement, such as asking a teammate to come to reception.
This guide covers one extension. Announcing to a group uses the group access configured for your business.
Before you start
Know the destination extension and let your teammate know before testing. Your announcement may be heard aloud, so avoid sharing private information.
What to dial
- Dial *8 followed by the destination extension. Replace {ext} with the extension number, without braces or spaces. For example, to reach extension 101, dial *8101. Extension 101 is an example; use your intended destination.
- Place the call and wait for it to connect.
- Keep the announcement brief, then hang up.
What happens next?
The intercom call goes to the extension you entered. Automatic answering, an alert tone and whether the recipient can reply depend on the receiving extension's intercom settings. This code does not announce to every extension.
If it does not connect
Check the extension number and whether the destination is connected. An ongoing call, Do Not Disturb or intercom settings may affect the result. Ask your administrator or Zonitel support to check the configuration.
