Missed Calls, Redial and Favorites on Your Desk Phone
Find a missed call, verify the number before calling back and save frequently used contacts. Learn the difference between phone history, favorites and Zonitel portal records.
Your desk phone can help you find a recent caller and reach frequent contacts faster. Its call list and local contacts are not automatically the same as the records and contacts in the Zonitel portal. Availability and synchronization depend on your setup.
Find and return a missed call
- Open the call history on the phone. Yealink T4U uses History, Poly VVX uses Recent Calls and Cisco 8800 Multiplatform uses Recents. Some models show these under a menu rather than a home-screen key.
- Choose the line and missed-call filter if prompted. A multi-line phone may keep separate views. Check the date and time so you do not return an older call by mistake.
- Read the full number before dialing. If it is unfamiliar, unexpected or cannot be verified, do not return it just because it appears in history. Caller information is not proof of identity.
- Select the desired entry and use Call, Send or the displayed calling control. If the number needs correction, use the edit option when available before dialing.
Use Redial carefully
Depending on the phone and settings, Redial may show previously dialed numbers or immediately call the last destination. Check its behavior before pressing it when you intend to review a number. Redial and the last incoming missed call are not necessarily the same destination.
Save a frequent contact
Open the call entry’s details or options and look for the supported contact-saving action. Check the name and number before saving. On supported phones, you can then add the contact to Favorites or request a speed-dial key. The exact action and directory depend on the model; Cisco may show an Add contact option with a specific target address book.
Do not replace a managed extension or Park key to create a shortcut. Ask your administrator if the key is already assigned. A favorite is not automatically a monitored extension.
Why is a call missing from the phone?
The local list may be limited, filtered by line or different from the business-wide record. Viewing or clearing a phone notification does not mean someone has returned the call. For a complete investigation, ask your administrator to review the relevant Zonitel portal records. Contact Zonitel support if you need help locating a call.
