What to Do If You Do Not Recognize a Login

What to Do If You Do Not Recognize a Login

Review an unfamiliar login, protect your Office credentials and report the activity with the information needed for an investigation.

1. Check the login details

  1. Open your user menu in Office and choose Account Activity → Login history.
  2. Compare the date, device and available location or IP information with your recent activity and device or network changes.
  3. Use My devices to compare the corresponding device entries. A new entry or unfamiliar IP alone is not enough to identify who signed in.
Switch between My devices and Login history to review an unfamiliar login.

See Review Login History and Manage Your Devices for the full navigation and controls.

2. Protect your account if the access remains unexplained

  1. From a device you trust, change your Office password to a unique password. If you cannot sign in, use the password-recovery route or contact support if 2FA is also blocking access.
  2. Review the intended row in My devices. Available actions can include Disable device or Revoke trust. Read any confirmation and contact support if you need an account-wide access review.
  3. Review your two-factor authentication setup and secure the email account used for password recovery. Avoid sharing a login among team members.

3. Report the activity with useful details

Contact your administrator or Zonitel. Include your login email, the date and time as displayed, the device entry involved and a short explanation of why it looks unfamiliar. Mention unexpected calls, messages, users or account changes that you noticed.

  • Keep a relevant screenshot for the investigation; crop unrelated customer data.
  • Never send passwords, authenticator codes, QR codes, setup keys or password-reset links.
  • If you cannot enter Office, explain that clearly. Do not wait to recover access before reporting a suspected compromise.

For sharing screenshots safely, see Protect Customer Information When Sharing Files and Screenshots.
